LED for modern color realization

SRS TruSurround

Samsung HLT6187S is equipped with the best that technology can offer in sound quality. Even when viewing regular broadcasts, Samsung HLT6187S’s two speaker surround sound makes you feel as if the theater has been brought to your living room.

I leaned about LEDs as a light source for a rear projection TV by accident. I sure am glad that I did. I purchased my Samsung HLT6187S 61″ throught Amazon.com. The process of purchasing was easy. In a reasonable period of time I received an email with the delivery date. The tracking info indicated my set made in from Reno NV to Sacramento, CA and never was updated with more recent information. Two days before the expected delivery date I received a call from the shipper asking if I would be home the next day.

DELIVERY

The driver from Eagle Trucking showed up on time. He had no help. If I had not been able to help, he wouldn’t have been able to get into the proper room. I had to help him get the Samsung HLT6187S out of the box and onto the stand that was in position and ready to go. The driver wanted me to immediately sign the paper work and leave. I let him know that I was not going to sign anything until I read what I was to sign. Any way I was victorious and had the Samsung HLT6187S up and running with a signal before signing his paper work.

DIALING IN THE PICTURE AND SOUND

As with most TVs the factory settings were way too much! Over the next three days I worked on getting the colors set for each of the three inputs.

The HD Dish Network receiver was HDMI to HDMI. I originally had my home theater signal feeding off the Dish system. This resulted in a lip sync problem. I moved the home theater input to the Samsung out and that cured the sync issue.

My HDPC was also HDMI TO HDMI. Fantastic! The first time ever I have been able to see my digital photos on the Samsung HLT6187S and been amazed by the image quality. In fact I can read the fine print from web sites on the TV without any problem.

The older high end progressive output DVD player is connected via component to component. I have tried viewing 480P and don’t see much difference between the images up converted to 1080P. The image quality is good in both cases. I am sure Blue Ray or HD DVD would be fantastic.

Sound quality from the Samsung HLT6187S is OK but my previous TV had much better sound quality. However, I never used it nor will I use Samsung HLT6187S’s sound system. I am spoiled by my separate Stereo and Surround Systems. Just remember it you are using a digital signal source feed your external sound system via the Samsung to avoid the lip sync issue. If you are using an older analog image and sound source, feed your TV and external sound system from that source.

IN SUMMARY

The Samsung HLT6187S 61″ TV has a fantastic picture once adjusted properly. Once in a while I do see some high speed digital artifacts in didn’t see on my 65″ CRT Mitsubishi. This is likely because of the difference between 480P and 1080P. In other words I may not have seen this before because of the less detail in my old TV.

I can’t wait to see my next electric bill. This is a win/win. A fantastic picture quality at a lower cost. Less electricity, higher image quality, and expected less maintenance. I am very, very satisfied with Samsung HLT6187S and highly recommend it if you use an external sound system.
